Things have been happening so fast for fledgling jewellery maker Michelle Bungay that you can't help wondering if fate has had a hand. She has learned the skills of jewellery making, launched her own business, left her promising career at a leading bank and set up her own studio in a working craft centre, all within the space of two years. What's more remarkable, though, is that it's a chain of events that was unintentionally initiated by by preparations for her wedding.

 Queen Made to Wait
Few shipbuilders could have been assigned to a more memorable project than that of building the Queen Elizabeth 2. But for the then 35-year-old George Houston Parker of Dundee, this was one of his responsibilities as Production Director at John Brown's shipyard of Clydebank in 1964. It proved to be particularly eventful - not because it was to be his first experience of building a passenger liner, or that the QE2 would one day become the most famous ship in the world, but for reasons of an entirely different nature.
