Something about Melanie
Have you ever heard the saying, "If you want anything done, ask someone who's busy"?
Well, apart from working as a freelance writer, I'm also: mum to two young children (each one a full-time job in themselves!), a freelance translator and copy editor, a business English lecturer at the Swiss Open University of Applied Sciences as well as a business entrepreneur.
Pre-kids and freelance writing, I worked for the international news agency Reuters in their stunning European headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Before that I worked for the same company in their less spectacular offices in Devon, England and before that I worked as a nanny for a family in the Swiss Alps.
I speak fluent French, German and Swiss German (nothing particularly noteworthy to the multi-lingual Swiss but it makes me sound like a genius to people back home in the UK), have a degree in Theatre Design, am studying towards official certification in Advanced Translation Studies and am a creative writing student at an accredited British writing institute.
I'm passionate about chocolate (I'm certainly living in the right country!), being a good parent and looking after the environment but less enthusiastic about getting up in the morning.
